Kiran Kumar Reddy's First Press Meet As a CM



25th Nov, 2010: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday sought the cooperation of the media and the opposition for the implementation of the developmental programs in the state.

Addressing his first press conference after being sworn in as the 16th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy also appealed to the leader of opposition and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Nara Chandrababu Naidu to extend his cooperation setting aside party affiliations.

Reddy disclosed that Naidu had spoken to him over phone for offering his greetings on his assuming office.

"My attempts will be to move with all sections, opposition, party legislators, councillors and party cadre. I seek their cooperation for the overall development of the state," the new CM said.

The Chief Minister also disclosed that a majority of the Congress MLAs met him and he was comfortable in working with any leader.

When asked to comment on the Maoists' issue, Reddy stated that the problem was not confined to Andhra Pradesh alone, and was rampant in around 14 states.

Regarding the pending irrigation projects, the Chief Minister replied that he would confer with party MPs, MLAs and MLCs, and seek their cooperation for speedy sanction of the projects from the centre.

"I have done my best as the Chief Minister of the state. No one asked for my resignation, it's my own call.
I have decided to step down from the Chief Minister's post purely due to personal reasons. There are no political reasons. I am telling you this from my heart," 77-year-old Rosaiah told reporters minutes before he tendered his resignation to Governor E S L Narasimhan.
